Abstract:
The sandwich bonded bispi-3-1,3-dicarbollylFeII-2 ion is protonated in strongly acidic media to form what may prove to be the analog of protonated ferrocene. This species readily reacts with dialkyl-sulfides to form B-substituted bisdicarbollylironII and -III species. Analogous reactions have been carried out employing bisdicarbollyliron III and -cobaltIII anions. The preparation, characterization and structures of these complexes are discussed. Author
