The Report surveys the technique of superposing small deformations on large ones. The investigation is confined to elastic response, and explicit expressions for the incremental stress-strain relations are given for isotropy and transverse isotropy. The following problems are discussed 1 small extensions of cylindrical tubes subjected to finite initial inflation, 2 material stability of undistorted states of a Mooney-Rivlin material, 3 internal buckling of finitely prestrained bodies, 4 formulation of incremental stress boundary conditions, 5 strain gradient theories.
