Abstract:
A wind tunnel investigation was conducted in the Low Speed Wind Tunnel VSTOL to determine the velocities in the recirculation region of the flow field produced by the interaction of a jet impinging on a ground plane with crossflow. Axial and vertical velocity component measurements were obtained with a forward-scattering laser Doppler velocimeter. Test results provide two- component velocity fields and indicate that the jet-to-free-stream velocity ratio is much more important in determining the flow field than the magnitude of the individual velocities.
