A polarized Co57 Mossbauer source has been realized by using a source in the form of CoO I covered by a ferromagnetic Rhodium-Iron alloy absorber. One of the delta m 0 lines of the absorber has the same energy as the emitted radiation from the source, and selectively absorbs one of the polarized components of the gamma rays the other component can be used as a polarized beam in Mossbauer spectroscopy.
