This report presents a transient combustion model and its use in describing the quenching of burning solid propellants. The model combines the transient combustion model of Dennison and Baum with the empirically determined steady state burning rate relationship. Comparison with experiment shows that the model correctly describes the quenching process and also encompasses several effects that were previously unexplained.
