An attempt was made to measure the total polarization rotation at the transverse region. The measured polarization rotation did not follow the simple expected curve predicted by theory. It was found-out that the sense of rotation reverses direction at the transverse region and then changes back rather abruptly. This phenomenon of sense reversal was unexpected and attempts to explain this behaviour have failed so far. Amplitude recordings of the 136 MHz transmissions of the Canary Bird synchronous satellite were analysed for scintillations for the periods December 1967 - January 1968 and April - May 1968. Diurnal variations and probability distributions of amplitude scintillations for these periods are presented. Author
