Abstract:
Two different formulations are presented in terms of ordinary second- order vector differential equations for acoustic rays in a three-dimensional medium moving with an arbitrary velocity either subsonic or supersonic, and having an arbitrary index of refraction. The first formulation has the arc length of the ray as independent variable, while the second one is given in terms of a canonical variable and is equivalent to Kellers Hamiltonian formulation.
