Abstract:

A brief news article is presented of the Soviet Orbita, an artificial earth satellite system which now transmits television pictures and sound to 65 percent of the USSR. The next Five Year Plan will see a climb in this figure, 82 to 85 percent. A special seminar on Orbita programming was held in Ulan Ude in the fall of 1969. It was attended by station representatives from cities in Siberia and the Far East. In addition to remarks concerning delays and disruptions in transmissions, the group also heard serious complaints against programming management and content. Author
