Abstract:
By using the hydrodynamic model of finite perturbations, the phenomenological theory is developed for the laminar boundary layer transition into a turbulent boundary layer on a surface with an arbitrary pressure gradient distribution on the external boundary of the layer in compressible gas. A new dependence of the critical Reynolds number in the transition point from the initial turbulence of the running flow relative to roughness and Mach number is obtained in an analytical form. This dependence is in good agreement with the known experimental data. Author
