Quantal investigations have been carried out on the following the average excitation energy of an atom or molecule appropriate to the slowing down of a beam of charged particles in a gas the long-range interactions between pairs of atoms and also between three hydrogen atoms various atomic structural problems including the polarization of a closed shell core by an outer electron, relativistic corrections to the eigenenergies for the helium sequence, correlation energies of the lithium sequence, isotope shifts in Li and B2.
