Data from hemograms, blood chemistries, clinical bacteriology and parasitology, necropsies and histopathology of a group of 41 newly received nonconditioned Macaca mulatta monkeys were collected, compiled and evaluated. Evaluation of the data revealed that within the total group there were normal animals, animals manifesting leukocytosis or other evidence of infectious disease and animals with some abnormality of the erythrocytes. The preventive medicine program has been adapted to implement the findings of this study. Blood samples for hemograms are drawn on a biweekly schedule. Fecal samples are routinely collected and anthelminthics are administered where indicated. Clinical bacteriology and blood chemistry determinations are performed only to determine etiologies and therapeutic regimes to be followed. Author
