Abstract:

The thermal conductivities of molten SbTe3, Bi2Te3, and Bi2Se3 is estimated theoretically on the basis of existing data relating to the electrophysical properties of these compounds in the solid state, together with the theory of heat conduction in the corresponding solid materials. The results are compared with experimental values. Agreement is in general reasonable, e.g., according to theory, Bi2Te3 has a thermal conductivity of 28 Wcm. degrees centigrade at 1100 degrees centigrade, while according to direct experiment, the value is 25 Wcm degrees centigrade.
