A device has been constructed to monitor automatically the magnitude and polarity of electrostatic fields associated with an aircraft in flight. It is small, self-contained apart from an ancillary photographic recorder, and operates from the aircraft 400 Hz supply. Logarithmic amplifier techniques are used to accomodate the large signal range of 400 Vm to 300 kVm.
