The fact that electron positron annihilation can be used to measure basic plasma properties as electron density, electron temperature and velocity distribution of the electrons, is discussed. Slow positrons 1 keV are required. Design and construction of a positron gun, capable of generating a beam of slow positrons is described. As positron source, Na22 or Co58 can be used. The counting system is outlined. It is intended to apply the gun to a plasma chamber for demonstration of the feasibility of electron-positron annihilation as a plasma diagnostic tool.
