The change in coupling between slot antennas on a sharp, slender, reentry vehicle can be used to determine the integrated electron density of a thin, turbulent boundary layer plasma. This coupling change is compared with the admittance change measured by a reflectometer for the same plasma conditions. The coupling measurement provides a direct on-board measurement of signal attenuation when the thin sheath criteria are satisfied. Author
