Abstract:

Campbell and Counter measured thresholds for various short durations of low-frequency sinusoidal signals. The adaptive psychophysical procedure they used is shown to yield uninterpretable results values they report can represent a wide range of performance levels. In this note, we take Campbells and Counters study as example of the methodological traps in seemingly straightforward testing methods. Author
