Abstract:
A viscometer was designed and built to measure PVT pressure, volume temperature relationships and viscosities of glasses at temperature of up to 600C and 400 bars. Viscosities of boric oxide and binary borates, sodium oxide-boric oxide, sodium fluoride-boric oxide, and water-boric oxide were measured. Theoretical studies were made of the data and the results reduced to constant volume where the activation volume for flow increased drastically as the pressure increased. Author
