Abstract:
A Nusselt type analysis was performed during laminar film condensation on the inside of a rotating truncated cone. This analysis was employed to determine the condensing limit of a wickless heat pipe, rotating about its longitudinal axis. Performance characteristics including the effects of geometry, rotational speed, and the characteristics of fluid are given. A comparison is made between the condensing, boiling, sonic, and entrainment limits for a given heat pipe geometry.
