Abstract:
The elastic differential scattering cross sections for H, H2 Ar to H, H2 Ar were measured for angles of 39 to 50 deg with incident lab energy of 100 eV. The apparatus utilized the properties of axially symmetric, non-uniform magnetic fields large thin solenoid to focus all scattered ions with vector momentum p within Delta p onto a detector placed down the magnetic axis. Thus, the solid angle was increased by a factor of about 300 over conventional methods with comparable resolution. Author
