Abstract:
Physical and electrical properties of Dow Corning 200 silicone oil kinematic viscosity of 5 centistokes are presented over wide temperature and pressure ranges. Comparisons are made between the physical properties of this liquid and those arising when this liquid is mixed with carbon tetrachloride. The effects of carbon tetrachloride on the physical properties of the silicone fluid are discussed with reference to friction-wear enhancement of the marginal lubrication capabilities associated with the silicone oil alone.
