Abstract:

A phase diagram is proposed for the iron-praseodymium alloy system. Only one intermediate phase, Pr2Fe17, was observed in the system. Invariant points are the Pr2Fe17 peritectic point at 1105 plus or minus 8C and 89.5 at. Fe and the eutectic point at 659 plus or minus 8C and approximately 18 at. Fe. An unexplained thermal arrest at 670 plus or minus 7C was observed for alloys containing from 10 to 70 at Fe. Author
