Abstract:
This volume brings together for the first time papers by recognized authorities on the structural and materials requirements of space vehicles exposed to aerodynamic heating, particularly during re-entry. The current status of insulating problems, especially in lift-flight vehicles, is discussed in detail, as are proposed thermal protection systems for future aerospace vehicles. Of particular importance are the reports on new developments of high-temperature thermal protection systems, thermal protection of cryogenic propellants, and structural cooling systems. Author
