Abstract:

The paper presents a study of the rational choice-making of an individual from among available information systems, or available components of such systems. The availability constraint specifies, in particular, the costs and the delays associated with given components, or with chains or networks of components, of information systems. The available set depends on the choices made by suppliers. Joint choices by demanders and suppliers would determine which information systems are in fact produced and used under given external conditions. These conditions include the technological knowledge of those concerned.
