The active impedance of an infinite array can be computed by either requiring that at the array face the tangential components of the radiating fields must be equal to the tangential fields of the radiating waveguides, or their powers, including both the real and the imaginary parts must be equal. It is shown in this report that these two approaches yield identical results. Such concepts as the grating lobe series, reciprocal lattice and Wheelers approximation impedance formulas are also explained. Author
