Pleicoarpa mutica, Isertia hypoleuca, Tagetes filifolia, Verbena hastata, Cephaelis tomentosa, an unknown Isertia species, Kinkelibia, Polysiphonia harveyii and Rhodymenia palmata were studied chemically. In addition, there were a number of plants on which only preliminary chemical work was initiated. As a result of the chemical investigation, a number of pure compounds were submitted for testing in the antimalarial screening program. These include pleiocarpine hydrochloride, dehydrodihydroquinamine, dihydroquinamine, and two uncharacterized compounds, IH-Lf-A and VH-N-1. None of these compounds showed significant antimalarial activity. Author
