Abstract:

The decay of the nucleides 68Cu and 68Ga, both populating levels in 68Zn, has been studied by means of GeLi and NaITl gamma-ray detectors. The 68Cu half-life of 31.64 plus or minus 0.98 sec and the energies of the 577.8, 805.7, 1077.4, 1262.1, 1744.8 and 1883.7 keV gamma-rays from 68Cu decay have been measured to a much greater precision than possible previously. The energies of gamma-rays from 68Ga decay have been confirmed. Gamma-gamma coincidence measurements with GeLi and NaITl detectors have confirmed the existence of 578-1077 keV, 806-1077 keV, 1262-1077 keV and 1745-1077 keV cascades in 68Zn. These results and those for beta-intensities and log ft values are discussed in terms of the 68Cu and 68Ga decay schemes. Author
