Abstract:

The purposes of the investigation are 1 to describe the properties and characteristics of natural rubble deposits, 2 to discuss the degree to which similar characteristics will be present in crater rubble slopes, and 3 to discuss possible factors which may affect the stability of both. The report includes 1 a review of literature and nomenclature on talus and other natural rubble deposits, 2 descriptions of selected rubble slopes, 3 discussions of various factors affecting the configuration and properties of talus slopes, and 4 evaluation of some factors affecting crater slope stability.
