Abstract:
This report presents the facts and conclusions concerning an engineering model of a no-break, 1.5-KW, direct-current, 22- to 28-volt power source. The report concludes that a The use of an automotive-type, alternator-battery power supply is technically feasible for equipment designed to operate within a voltage range of 22 to 28 volts b Standby power can be provided by the use of lead-acid batteries c With the generator set operating at 2600 and 3600 rpm, full-load and system noise level being measured, the average difference was 2 decibels lower at 2600 rpm--approximately a 33 reduction in noise level for the lower speed d Where a constant terminal voltage 27.5 plus or minus .5 is required, a direct-current voltage inverter can be added to the system to maintain a 27.5-volt terminal voltage when power is taken from the two 2HN batteries.
