Rail impact tests were conducted at Naval Weapons Handling Laboratory, NAD Earle, to determine whether plywood dunnage and adjustable steel columns can be used to retain Fleet Issue Unit Loads of Mk 82 Bombs, for one or more, railcar shipments. Impacts at various speeds, four to nine MPH, caused considerable damage to the plywood gates and associated steel columns. Author
