Abstract:

Numerous reports have indicated the impending critical shortage, within large metropolitan areas, of frequencies allocated to certain of the land-mobile radio services, including those used by police, fire, taxi, business, special industrial, domestic public, and other land-mobile services. In this paper some possible long-range objectives of land-mobile radio systems are examined several effective ways of improving present systems to achieve these objectives are discussed and conclusions are drawn regarding the study programs that should be undertaken to initiate these improvements.
