Abstract:

A patent has been issued for a strain-gage method of evaluating the lubricating property of jet fuels, based on measuring the torsional friction forces in connected parts. To increase the sensitivity and accuracy of the analysis, torque is applied to an oscillatory system, e.g., the spring of a pump, and the magnitude of the amplitude of the systems oscillations is measured.
