Abstract:

The study was designed to assess the value of single-phase and two-phase methods of quick-time image interpretation. Accuracy and completeness data were compared for single-phase one viewing of each photo frame and two-phase first and second viewings of each frame interpretation methods. With the two-phase methods, results when the same interpreter accomplished both phases were compared with results when a different interpreter accomplished each phase. Each of the 64 experienced interpreters participating in the experiment was designated as above or below the median of the interpreter group on the basis of independent ratings by two supervisors. Screening of target frames averaged 90 percent correct over all conditions. Author
