First order nonlinear systems with a time delay are treated in a generalized manner based on expansion of the nonlinearity in a power series. Generalized charts are presented for prediction of optimal tuning for proportional control of such systems. Additional charts give characteristics of the response of the optimally tuned system to step function disturbances. Author
