Abstract:
In an investigation, chloroacetophenone, commonly known as tear gas, was evaluated as a non-lethal agent to prevent marine birds from roosting and depositing their droppings on mooring buoys, floats, piers, and other waterfront structures. Masonite panels were coated with chloroacetophenone and placed on the railing of a dock reserved for testing purposes. Control panels free of lachrymator coating also were placed on the railing. Observed results are reported. Author
