The equipment described utilizes the fact that time intervals between successive disintegrations in an appropriately chosen radioactive source are exponentially distributed. A source and detector drive a probability unit which reduces the input distribution rate parameter by as much as two decades. The origin parameter is then introduced by a gating circuit which eliminates pulses which follow their predecessors by less than a specified number of seconds.
