Abstract:

An analytical model was devised that tells the aircraft manufacturer which aircraft to propose for a military deployment fleet at different levels of expenditure. The model is based upon the indifference-curve analysis of standard economic theory. The time to deploy a military force was related to an aircrafts speed, range, cargo capacity and to such system variables as traffic control, number of runways, mission distance, and tonnages delivered. Another relation, based upon historical cost data, was developed to determine the cost of additional quantities of the above deployment factors. The indifference-curve analysis is used to determine the combination of these factors capable of delivering alternative deployment payloads within given time periods, at least cost. Author
