Slender body theory was extended to wings near ground for the following three cases wings without thickness, wings with small thickness, wings with elliptical cross-sections and arbitrary thickness ratio. The equation of the potential function was solved by using the method of continuous distributions of vortices and sources, which are located either on the contour itself or on the spanwise chord. In order to check the theory experimental investigations on a delta-wing, a wing-body combination, and a circular cone were carried out. In the comparison between theory and experiment the thickness effects and the ground effects were emphasized. The changes of the aerodynamic coefficients due to thickness as well as due to ground proximity are predicted fairly well by the theory. Author
