Abstract:

Epiperchloratohydrin I was synthesized and polymerized although covalent perchlorates are known to be hydrolytically unstable. Compound I, dissolved in benzene could be rapidly washed with water without causing major hydrolysis. A simple method for dehydrating silver perchlorate by an azeotropic distillation was used. Compound I before and after polymerization was explosive and required special care.
