Abstract:
An installation for determing frictional losses in geared electrical mechanisms under vacuum is presented. This installation consists of two identical dc electric motors connected through a set of gears. One of the motors acts as a generator and the other as an electric motor. The power loss of the system due to friction is determined electrically. A schematic of the vacuum chamber and electrical measuring circuit is presented. This installation may be used sucessfully for determining frictional power losses in planetary and other gear mechanisms. Author
