This document summarizes research dealing with various metabolic aspects of dopamine, for example, the relative role of oxidative deamination and 3-O-methylation. The analogue a-methyldopamine has also been investigated with respect to the stereospecificity of -hydroxylation and the influence of reserpine and other drugs on this process. The releasing action of a monoamine inhibitor on a-methylated catecholamine analogues has been further investigated. The effect of nerve ligation on amine uptake and on monoamine oxidase transport has been studied. The potentiation of the behavioural dopa response by a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor has been described. Author
