Abstract:
An important part of most modern digital control systems is the supervisory or steady-state optimization programs. The purpose of these second level programs is to determine optimum values for the set-points of the first level control loops. Today most first level control loops are adjusted for a compromise between good set-point responses and good load responses. This paper will present a practical technique for obtaining good set-point responses, while allowing the first level controllers to be tuned for good regulator action so that load disturbances will be well-compensated.
