A series of Magnus tests were carried out in a 4 ft. supersonic unitary tunnel at Mach numbers 1.5 and 2.0 and compared with Magnus tests run on the same model in a 13 in x 15 in supersonic tunnel. The tests show that the greater turbulence and flow variations in the 4 ft. tunnel test region influence the Magnus data so that the data are accurate only 10 to 15. Flow variations over longer models will undoubtedly be greater and the inaccuracy of Magnus data will also be greater. Author
