The purpose of this project was to evaluate the behavior of laced reinforced concrete members when subjected to short duration dynamic loads similar to that produced by high-explosive detonations. The primary objective was to establish the increase in stresses and strains in a laced member under dynamic load relative to those produced in the member under static load. Secondary objectives were to evaluate the following characteristics of a laced reinforced concrete member a the dynamic strength throughout the entire range of ductile response, b rotation capacity of the member at clamped supports, and c the dynamic versus static response under uniform load.
