Macaca mulatta primates excrete Beta-amino acid was detected and identified by means of silicic acid thin-film and paper chromatography of a dinitrophenyl derivative. The average concentration of Beta-aminoisobutyric acid in the urine of normal Macaca mulatta was 8 microgramsml. with a range of 1-20 microgramsml. The melting point and the infrared spectrum of Alpha-methyl-Beta-2,4-dinitrophenyl-aminopropanoic acid were determined. Author
