Abstract:

Great success has been achieved in the control of such diseases as malaria, parasitic typhus, small pox, typhoid fever, diphtheria, poliomyelitis, parasitic worms, and whooping cough. The success is attributed to intensive prophylactic measures, including elimination of breeding sites for diseased vectors, improved sanitary conditions, improved techniques for diagnosis and treatment, and widespread vaccinations.
