A technique is described whereby the mutual orientation of the 001 planes of graphitized fibers might be measured. A two-circle goniometer in conjunction with the line focus of a copper X-ray source was used to carry out the measurements. A structure analysis was performed on the 002 line profiles of various fibers using a chromium X-ray source and gas-flow proportional counter. Comparisons are made of the 002 profiles obtained from a copper X-ray source and a chromium X-ray source. In both cases the radiation was unfiltered to insure maximum intensity. Author
