Abstract:

The effect on the neutron yield of variations in electrode material in a paraboloidal deuterium plasma focus assembly was investigated. Beryllium, titanium, iron, copper, and palladium anode tips were tested. The most significant improvement in neutron yields was produced by elements that are good deuterium absorbers, such as titanium. Average neutron yields were increased by a factor of 20 when the copper anode tip was replaced by a titanium tip. Author
