The paper presents a tool to study the tapered structures by the direct stiffness method. It appears that a natural coordinate system is convenient to simplify the boundary conditions and in consequence the analytic calculations. The development of a particular element is taken as example and illustrated in details the tapered spar. By means of the special coordinate system the conformity with the already developed cover sheets quadratic elements, linear elements is easily realized. Author
