A CONTACTLESS METHOD OF MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE OF MOVING BODIES HAVING SMALL SURFACES,

Pagination or Media Count:
A method was developed for measuring the temperature of a synthetic fiber spun from a polymer melt. The chosen method was based on the heat radiation from the fiber. The constructed instrument incorporates an appropriate optical system and a high sensitivity semiconductor bolometer. The bolometer registers the heat rays parallel to the main optical axis only. The heat radiation from the fiber falls on the optical system which cone them on the bolometer. The latter heats up and its electric condition drops, thus increasing the current. The current is amplified and recorded. The calibration of the instrument is described in detail. The calibration procedure also outlines the detn. of the emissivity of the fiber. The scatter of data is 1. The error of the temperature detection of a kapron nylon fiber consisting of 140 elementary fibers is 2.5.
