Abstract:

An investigation of single oxides was carried out to determine the suitability of the oxide to be formed into a fiber to act as reinforcement. Ability to strengthen alloy systems to 2000F was used as partial requirement for retention of the oxide. Further selection was based upon chemical properties. Three oxides Al2O3, Y2O3, and ZrO2 stabilized were selected as meeting all basic chemical requirements for a fiber reinforcement. Author
